1. To maintain the best possible standards of health and care in my kennel and/or home.
2. To register all breeding stock with the AKC and keep accurate records of mating and pedigrees.
3. Not to sell or consign puppies or adult dogs to pet shops, wholesalers, or other commercial dealers and/or commercial laboratories.
4. To make every attempt to sell, consign, or give dogs, permit stud service and lease stud or bitches only to individuals who give satisfactory evidence they will give them proper care and are in accord with this code of ethics, and to make available to the novice the benefit of my advice and experience.
5. To not knowingly supply purebred dogs for raffles, prizes, or other such projects.
6. To refuse to sell to any buyer where I have reason to believe the puppy or dog will not be properly cared for.
7. To keep and pass on to buyers of puppies or adult dogs accurate health, breeding registration, and pedigree records. Papers may be withheld or breeder's rights retained by mutual agreement in writing.
8. To conscientiously plan each litter based on the parents' appropriate temperament and qualities in relation to the breed's official AKC standard.
9. To, as a general rule, keep all stock from leaving my possession until they reach a reasonable age.
10. To maintain all advertising to be factual, so that is is not worded to misrepresent any of my animals.
11. When confronted by a situation not covered by this code of ethics, to conduct myself as I would like to be treated under similar circumstances.
